- It’s about that time of the year again where we get to Thanksgiving and Christmas break. We do this every year, and many of you know this already, but I wanted to bring y’all up to speed so it doesn’t catch anyone by surprise. This weekend is Thanksgiving, and we won’t be updating on Friday. Monday will resume as normal. (Don’t worry, the current scene wraps up tomorrow, and Monday will be the beginning of a new scene.) Afterwards, the comic continues on as normal, until the 20th, in which we’ll be going on Christmas Break for two weeks. Then we’ll return the first week of January, and return with Issue Five of Season Two. Or roughly Issue #14 if you’re counting from the beginning, like me.
- Usually during these Christmas breaks, we do something a little fun and off to the side. First year, it was the Forum RPG, the second year I walked through the history of how Shadowgirls came about, and afterwards D.Rod walked through Starkweather’s origins. (Though those pages seem to be gone now. Should I go over it all again some day?) Then last year we had the Shadowgirls/Rival Angels crossover. I have an idea for this year, but to be honest, it depends on how I’m doing with the workload, because we got a pretty big announcement coming up soon. It’s something that’s been frequently asked for a long while now… But that announcement will have to wait until the new year.
- Apparently we have a TVTropes entry, which is pretty neat! (Just to nitpick though, Shadowgirls is one word, and not parsed. Also the “g” is not capitalized.)
- It’s been brought to our attention that the Chat room has been somewhat borked. Some plug-ins got updated, and we need to reconfigure some stuff. I don’t know how to do it personally, but it is on our to-do list. (I’m kinda hoping to have it up and running by the time we make our announcement.) UPDATE: It’s apparently been fixed now.
- Shadowgirls has an official drink: The Shadowgirl! (Fitting, yes?) I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while, but I just kept forgetting to do so. The recipe card is off to the right there for your convenience. Now some people has said “Charon wouldn’t drink something that girly!” Yeah, I know. But, it’s blue, so there.
And it’s better than our second option, which was called “The Destroyer” consisting mostly of three parts dry gin, one part vodka and a flamed orange dripped over it. We‘d rather not subject our readers to alcohol poisoning. (You don’t even wanna know what the Hydra was.)
- There won’t be a blog update on Thursday, as we’ll probably be recovering from postprandial somnolence. You know, for being a recently converted vegetarian, I kinda totally suck at this “not eating meat” thing. Eh… No one ever said it was going to easy. If you got any questions, feel free to ask away.

Much <3 for the little shoutout in the tropes entry!
The Chat room should be working better now. Let us know if there are more problems.
Awww I wanna know how to make a Hydra! That and just how do you find a “flamed orange”, have it post naughty stuff in the forums?
Googling a “Flaming Orange Peel” will show you the results. (It involves igniting the oils in the orange peel.)
As for the Hydra… Alright, but please don’t actually make this.
- 1 tbsp. Bourbon
- 2 oz. Rum, anejo
- 2 oz. Rum, gold
- 2 oz. Rum, Jamaican
- 4 oz. Rum, overproof/151 proof
- 2 oz. Rum, red
- 2 oz. Rum, spiced
- 2 oz. Rum, White
- 2 cans 7-up
- 3 oz. Grenadine
- 3/4 Orange Juice
- 2 scoops ice
- 4 sugar cubes
Add all ingredients except sugar cubes and bourbon into a chilled pitcher and mix. Add the ice last. To finish, take the four sugar cubes and melt them together to form one large cube. Take the table spoon of bourbon and pour it onto the sugar cube, light it and set it on top of the ice in the pitcher.
This scary monstrousity is a one person drink. (Not even kidding you.)
It’s also been called the “At Death’s Door” except they use fruit juice instead of the Orange Juice.
Why not? Apart from the impending doom.
Also I think buying all those spirits to make one drink is above me.
Hey guys, great recipe. This would be a wonderful addition to the Webcomics: What’s Cooking? book as we have alcoholic recipes in the book as well. All proceeds are going to the national food banks: Feeding America & Food Banks Canada.
Let me know if you guys are interested,
