I'm not really gaming at the moment… my cash vanishes as fast as it arrives and there's a lot of family stuff going on right now that takes up a lot of spare time. Wanted to indulge in the hardware-torture that is Crysis 2, but no spare moolah for it. And Portal 2… <sigh>
Anyroad, I will say this. Long ago, when the continents were a different shape and dinosaurs ruled the Earth, I worked for Games Workshop. What I was exposed to as "training" made me dislike their asses so much I kicked back against their in-store policies until they found an excuse to let me go one summer. As much as I liked the hobby, the way it was sold killed all passion I ever had for it… used car salesmen have more integrity than your average indoctrinated sales-stooge in one of their stores. They might be different now, but I doubt it. I wonder what kind of production costs mark-up they're selling their models at now…
How much is a Land Raider these days?

These are Aus prices, but I am sure people can figure it out.
GW - $103
Phoenix Forge – $82.40
Maelstrom – $55.44
Granted, my Maelstrom price could be a little out.

Well, back in the day, we got a wonderful staff discount – all metal we bought by weight, and it added up to about £8 per lb of metal, and for plastics we payed cost – 5 pence per sprue regardless of sprue complexity or size. Land Raiders used to come on six sprues. You do the math there. I remember one time I bought, just for the hell of painting them, eight different dragons and all the greater demons. Cost me about £16 for what was close to £180 pounds in the shop. After a few months the novelty of it wore off, and the plain unfairness of it settled on my shoulders.

They are having big problems at the moment. Simply for the cost of tin has gone from like 5 to 15 so they are pulling all their metal products and everything is going over to some sort of resin. Well things that are plastic at the moment are staying, but yeah.
