This didn't really seem to fit in other topics, so I figured I'd make a new one.

You know, I'm pretty sure that most of us play RPGs.  I thought it might be nice to have a place to talk to each other about what we're doing…. so yeah, I started one! :D

And so, I'll start.  I'm putting together a new True20 Game based on a world that I literally dreamed up over the past year- it's a space-based adventure, complete with corporate espionage, paramilitary organization, and one big honkin' coverup.  I'm putting together the intro material for it now, which is… well… the way it made the most sense to me was to put it all in an employee training manual and a bunch of newspaper articles.

The way that makes sense to me, may not make sense to everyone else.

We'll see how it works- my group's coming over on Wednesday to make characters, and I'll let them read it before then.

What are you up to in the world o games?

Well, I am co-DMing a D&D game called the Fox's Fist.  It's a city-based game where the characters are all members of a theft/espionage/assassination guild.  We are co-DMing so that we can incorporate a lot of audio/visuals.  The other DM has a projector and screen that attaches to her computer, so our players get pictures of the places they are going, the people they meet, and the items they are looking for. And for good measure, we try to incorporate a 'soundtrack' for each evening as well.  It's a lot of fun. :)

Also, I'm playing in three different games (we alternate from week to week which one we play).  One is a D&D game set in Faerun, the second is a D20 game set in a horror setting, and the third is a home-baked world/system that my husband has created.

i'm (occasionally) posting in a play by post pseudoravenloft game.  Also a GM friend of mine is attempting to figure out conference videocalls to do a shadowrun in space game.

Right now, I'm trying to wrap up stuff in Final Fantasy XII. Recently bought the strategy guide and have been referring to it for some side quests and such, trying to power up my characters and get all the summons. But it is taking a LOOOOOONG time. Wanted to beat it before I bought/played FFXIII, and now I hear FFIV is coming out in the fall. Ca-razy.

Unsurprisingly my nerdy self plays World of Warcraft.  I've just more or less finished off my third max level character and will probably start my fourth fairly soon.  As much as it shames me to say I'm currently Alliance but my heart belongs to the Horde.  I really need to scale back my leveling exploits or start raiding outside my guild to support all these level 80s!

No traditional games, I always tried to kick start something back in the day but it wouldn't take for more then five minutes.

And I'll form the head!

I'm on City of Heroes on Sunday nights, and usually the rest of the weekends. I'm co-founder of the Punch Clock Heroes, for those MMO players who actually have a life outside of games. I never really played any stuff like D&D but I have the books because I used to draw people's characters for lunch money in 4-7th grade.

I used to be a WoWCrack addict, but now my interest in the game waxes and wanes like no-ones business; I've not even started the game since december of last year and frankly no-longer care about it. When you have six lvl 80 characters and four others between 70 – 80, you have seriously done it all, seen it all, killed it all, and bought, washed and burned the t-shirt. Even playing on an RP server couldn't keep my interest (largely because I was not interested in 'teh cyb0r,' lesbian night elves/draenei/insert 'exotic' species here and the plain fact no-one has the right to tell someone that has played a gnome scientist since the original release that there is no place for 'science' in WoW – hell is other roleplayers).

I also used to play City of Heroes (which in itself became the inspiration for Sister 'Hood – a silly idea I had for an episodic story about a group of female supervillains "going straight" that I never got around to writing). I had a brief fling with Age of Conan. I think though that I'm burned out utterly on murmorpurgurs. Been there, done that.

I did play through the brilliant Dragon Age, but got massively pissed off by the ending. So much so I aborted any replay attempts. It killed my enjoyment utterly (not wanting to hand out spoilers, I'll just say that if I have to play a game for 80+ hours only to be essentially railroaded into a crappy ending because my character didn't have a penis and knew how to spell 'morality' I am NOT going to be pleased or think your writing kung-fu was strong). Same with the benchmark sci-fi RPG-actioner that is the ongoing Mass Effect series. Loved the games, the characters, everything. Pitch-perfect to me. Plus any game where you can have a Suicide Girls escapee that can pull space stations apart with her bare hands if she gets pissed off for your character's girlfriend is pure win in my book ;)

Back in the day though, I was a pencil & paper RPGer. My dad taught me D&D back when I was about seven, and I went on to AD&D, Werewolf, Vampire, Deadlands, Paranoia and a shedload of others over the years… Call of Cthulhu being the highlight of the lot. Over the years I handed on most of the books to friends and friend's kids as I got older, but I do still have my third edition hardback CoC book…

RP servers must stand for Rune Power or something, as I play on one (ZOMG Shadow Council!).  I'm not surprised someone said something dumb like that and can count the number of actual RP I've seen on one hand.  Personally I have to wonder if that person that told ya that P ever heard of the Engineering profession.  I have a gnome Tink (Maybe I should try to see if I can get pink hair as a male gnome….)complete with rocket boots and a parachute for when I jump out of my VTOL flying machine….  Guess that's not science!  Heh I just started getting invited to Icecrown raids so it'll be awhile before I get bored and have to leave till the next expansion.  I really wish I had the RAM for Dragon Age, it runs like utter crap on my computer so I don't get to rage at the crappy ending I'll probably get as I'm incapable of playing a evil character.  I can't tell you how many evil characters I made in Baldur's Gate 2 only to go good guy in the end.

And I'll form the head!

My hubby co-GMs a Champions (Hero System.  Pen and Paper.) game.  A bit twisted.  Most of the players have two characters for the GMs to pick and choose from.  One of mine is a Powerpuff Girl.  The other is an anthropomorphic otter.  Someone else is playing a Time Lord.  Another has a character that turns into a giant raccoon when splashed with cold water.  One of that player's other characters is a pirate from the Tenchi universe.

We play City of Heroes/Villains from time to time, too.  Of course, we re-built some of our favorite Champs characters in the game.  :)

i LOVE HERO/Champs!  my only issue is needing a calculator or math degree to build a character.  (at least it isn't GURPS)

Sporky, what summon and what monster are you talking about?

Zodiark is the summon, and he lies in a formerly locked-off portion of the Henne Mines. Only way to get to him is to have advanced far enough that one of the elder Garifs says he'll send one of his guys to unlock a previously unlocked gate (which is in a circular "room" next to another "room" with a teleport crystal. You have to wade through tunnels filled with level 60+ monsters (that are fortunately worth upwards of 3000EP). And even if you find a special candle that helps complete your map, there are some uncharted tunnels.

The monster is the Hell Wyrm, in a room in an underground building. The only way to unlock the door he's behind is to walk clockwise around the Hall (or was it Room) of Hours. The building is just outside Old Archades (in fact, it's the only way to GET to Old Archades in the first place).

All that was just in case you didn't, y'know…already know that.

And I guess it goes without saying I meant FFXIV, not IV. Dang Roman numerals.

I was running a D&D 4e game on a PlaybyPost site. Also playing in a 4e game, and a pathfinder game, and a Nightbane game, but I kinda took a month off.

I also play in a bi-weekly 4e D&D game, though I think there's talk of trying Dresden Files RPG after we finish this campaign book.

Not playing any computer games at the moment because i just switched to a Mac, and don't own any of them on Mac.

It's time for another good idea, bad idea:
Good Idea – Getting your Insider character into the comic
Bad Idea – Joining the EOD to do so.

Gratz to Jacobus for the New Avatar!

Right now I'm playing a cute little PnP campaign called Earthdawn.  We also play Rogue Trader and SLA.  So far I'm enjoying the hell out of all of them, and I found out adding a female to an all guys gaming group automatically turns everyone into a perv, or at least makes them realize they are being pervy.  It's great dice rolling times.  I know at some point we may play Star Wars, L5R or Heros/Champions.  The guys get a little restless when it comes to simply playing one character or group of characters, but possibly that's because I just started playing all this stuff a few months ago.

Online I'm in and out of a Neverwinter Nights server called Soul Forge.  That one is D&D Forgotten realms 3rd Ed.

And FYI, never tell a PnPer that their game is "like" D&D.  They go apeshit.

:)

Just a pretty little flower, but don't make the mistake of thinking it's sweet.

Appreciated, but nay. I have this system of having one party level up 2 levels above the reserve, then switch. Keeps them somewhat equal should the active set die in battle.

I almost had Zodiark the first time, but he went and pulled one of those "Super-Mess-Your-Sorry-Self-Up-In-One-Big-Move" whammies. I power my people up some more (if I ever decide to risk having them ALL wear that accessory that doubles EXP in battle), then that sucker is going down.

Hellwyrm…that sucker'll probably need a weekend set aside (but not soon. Certain obligations will probably have me further from my PS3 than I already have been of late).

But again, thanks for the offer.

No worries Sporky. Hellwyrm and Zokiark are both farely easy if you figure out the right Gambit system to use.

Probably helped that by the time I went after them my characters were nutso.

Rifts actually comes in at 3rd for me. I can free hand a Rifts character, though the book pile to do so is intimidating.

2nd is Pendragon. The epitome of "roll on table X", there's actually a required table roll for "Grandfather's Social Status". The Binary value system they use though is still one of the coolest Mechanics I've ever used. Character Sheet

Hardest is Gurps. I don't think it's physically possible to build a character without a computer program. Even with a computer to do all the math, I can't turn one out in under 45 minutes.
