Well, going on her rapid backhands I'd say Chrissy has Gage's measure already… Jackson really needs to develop a line in sexual deviancy gags to counter this jackass.
I'm guessing that Chris'll be the wise one that doesn't buy anything that comes out of his mouth, while Charon will somewhat foolishly forget herself. Oh, the lure of a pretty face and a silver tongue…

*facepalm* Ok, I caught the reveal, but somehow my brain failed to link it to the page before where she was talking to Jackson about his time out of the office. I actually spent half a day trying to figure out why her name plate was important… because it's the link to the last page… *facepalm*

These things happen. Sometimes you hear/see something but for one reason or another it doesn't quite register. Happens to me all the time.

Yeah same. Espescially when I watch a movie I have not seen in years with my wife. She will point out something I have missed and a handful of things will mystically make sense

I dislike men like Gage Campbell. Makes it that much harder for guys like me who actually care to find a relationship! … If I were Jackson, I'd systematically rip off his flesh, then toss a bucket of salt on him. … And yes, I did get that from that "Which Shadowgirls Character Are You?" quiz. … And for the record, my result was Charon.

Well it's nice to see another woman has the measure of our new friend Gage; if he's a tool, may as well just use him like one.
Oh, you gotta love a woman that can play a player.

Reality is that guys like Gage don't affect you one bit. The women want to say they do, but the sad fact is that if really wanted a relationship, they'd finda relationship guy. They choose the bad boy because they want to loose, feel like they deserve it, like they need it, or like they need to prove that this time they won't loose.
Humans are so self destructive.

You're exactly right. Guys like that don't affect me one bit. And that is exactly why guys like me don't get dates. Because the women don't go for the guys like me who want relationships. Not the good ones, anyway. And then, not until it's too late. They usually either already have kids or have sworn off men by that point. Or worse, they wind up dead because the guy wasn't just a d-bag but also a psycho murderer to boot. And that's not low self-esteem or anything. That's vague generalization, right there. There's always exceptions, and there's a reason they're called 'exceptions'.

Wow, I find it interesting you think that way, Valor, considering all of Ayn Rand's protagonists were, boiled down, Gage Campbell with money.
Let me give you a woman's perspective. Yeah- we get into bad relationships with mean people, and in some cases that's due to self-esteem issues- or the fact that the decent guys (not Nice Guys, who think that just because they're talking to us and haven't called us a bitch yet means we should be taking our clothes off, or pick up artists who think that if they flash their $100 bill and iPhone means they'll get into the ladies' pants- and these have happened to me recently) don't approach us and we're really tired of knitting on Saturday nights.
Otherwise, poor relationship decisions are gender neutral. Right now, I'm trying to talk one of my best friends out of giving his ex a second chance because they are completely wrong for one another and she broke his heart last time. I'm failing, and do you know why? She's interesting, attractive, a nice person (really, she's my friend too), and available, and that makes it really easy for his heart to override his best interests. And it may be in his head since this isn't the first poor relationship choice he's made that's ended badly that if he plays the same game with the same players, eventually he'll win and get the marriage he deserves. I want to grab him by his lapels and shake him until he understands that a) life isn't a game and b) even if it was a game, you shouldn't be trying to win against those that don't follow the rules and/or cheat.

Valor, I know Tink already provided a woman's point of view, and I agree with her whole-heartedly.
In my opinion, though, most relationships fail because we don't know how to make them work. More and more people are coming into relationships from divorced families. They have never seen a couple work on a relationship. And those lucky few whose parents stayed married often have the same problem – their parents made it look easy by not fighting in front of the kids, etc. Either way, the result is the same – people (men AND women) choose relationships with people they KNOW are going to let them down, because it's less intimidating that the alternative. Trying to figure out how to spend a lifetime with someone is daunting. And even if one person chooses to try it, there's no guarantee that the other person will, as well. Trust is a hard thing to give. Better just to choose the person you know won't be there next week. And no, I don't think they consciously make that decision, but subconsciously, they are protecting themselves.
And for what it's worth, I don't think the situation on this page is about Fides choosing the wrong guy, anyway. I think he knows something that she needs. She's a crafty one, and she's got plans for him. Just wait and see.

We all have our own theories, so here's mine.
There's that movie called 'The 40 Year Old Virgin.' It's almost preprogrammed in our head to look at that guy and think "Oh my god, what a loser! forty years old and never been with a woman!" But in reality, it was his friends who were the screwed up ones. It's an age old dilemma of "why does the nice people always lose" and do wish it was a stereotype, but it's so true, it's kinda sad. I think the sadder situation is when people know someone is bad for them, but yet they continue to stay with them out of routine or even fear of being alone. It's drilled in our heads since high school that being single is the absolute worst thing you could be. If you're single, something MUST be wrong with you. And this kind of thinking perpetrates to our adult years, and sometime gets worse as we get older.
On a personal basis, but if I have a choice of being in a unhappy relationship or being single, I'll take singlehood. I'd like to meet someone, don't get me wrong. And I'm well aware that everyone has baggage of some sort or another (including myself), but I owe it to myself (and to whoever I end up in a relationship with) to feel like I want to be there, as opposed to needing to be there.

Personally, I've decidedthe same thing about having relationships as I do about having kids. After dealing with friends' relationships imploding for a variety of reasons and a bunch of kids who are so spoiled they make buzzards heave I have to say : YOU CAN HAVE IT!

Yup, 40 Year Old Virgin hits way too close to home for my comfort. LMAO. I heartily agree with ya DRey on all points. Though the majority of my reason for being single is a combination hermit/stubborn asshole. Not conductive to finding the One or even a Not the One.
As for why people do the things they do, I honestly don't have a clue. People do the dumbest/craziest things all the time, so I'm not shocked they extend that to their love lives.
Gage reminds me strongly of those druggie douche-bags from high school. They had no future beyond one doing unsavory acts behind dumpsters for cash to pay for their next high, were douche-bags to the extreme, and all the girls just loved them. They would literally have a new GF every week till they exhausted the pretty girls and then would start the cycle over again. Turns out that my hometown is sorta the Meth capital of MI so I probably had a higher amount of them then the rest of you did, but I'm sure you know atleast one. Though to be honest I'm sure Gage can't be that much of a douche, it's too obvious, atleast that much of a douche NOW.
As for Fides. If she isn't working with him I think Gage will be the one waking up alone
