OK, I hate to say it, but it's been so long, and it's such a different shot, that I still can't tell if that's Becca. Either way though, I sure hope that isn't that poor girls foot in the Background frame. One's heels should never sit in the small of one's back.

It's time for another good idea, bad idea:
Good Idea – Getting your Insider character into the comic
Bad Idea – Joining the EOD to do so.

Gratz to Jacobus for the New Avatar!

Ouch. That is TEXTBOOK uncomfortable. That is unless she's got some natural gymnastic ability…but it certainly hurts to look.

That's definitely Becks, there. The blue eyes' glow is a bit more subtle this time, but that's her. That and no expressive pigtails.

Polite, articulate monster… probably sounds like Jeremy Irons, too :)

So we begin once more, and boy are we right in at the deep end. So many questions…

Man, I hate spiders! I'm willing to bet Becka will too by the time this is over….

Exciting! I wonder if this is all really happening or an awful dream, given the quote we saw in that teaser image a week or two ago… :)

I'm thinking dream because:

1) Dream quote from teaser

2) You can't start a season with your hero in peril, can you?

3) It's all fuzzy around the edges.

Hey, wait, if Lolth (yep, I went there!) can pick on Becka 'cause she's the ShadowChild, and is therefore the "warden", and is trying to break her via nightmares… and assuming Becks immune to such jiggery-pokery before the SC woke up in her… what was stopping arachno-biatch from escaping when Becka was an infant?  (And I don't see how she could have stopped the many-legged villainess when she was a zygote – what's she gonna do, squish at her in a particularly threatening way? :D )

Don't hit me!  Don't hit me!  Just seemed like if the Beckster could shrug off such things while still keeping the door sealed when she hadn't "awoken" yet, she should be able to do so now in her sleep.  (*badum-kshhhh*)

Remember Fors- when she was an infant, the battle with MH hadn't happened in Dreamland yet.  There may have been other measures that MH's spell had taken out, and now she's the thin blue-black line.

Hrm… an interesting point; I'd been assuming that any nasties that hadn't escaped by the time MH was put down would remain firmly restrained by the "fetters" snapping back into place – or put back in place outside the comic's purview by the SC once the three of them healed up a bit.  (I'd been assuming this as it'd seem a little unbalanced if MH's able to bust up the barrier with a few well-placed words but a Quest For The McGuffin is then required to spackle it back together again)

(please note, I'm not looking for a Dave to set me straight here – I know we don't have all the pieces.  This is just me getting my speculation on. ;) )

That's the thing about entropy, you know?  It's a lot easier to break something than it is to build or fix it.  Especially when that something has all sorts of critters man should not wot of on the other side trying to bust it down.

Indeed, I'd considered and discarded that as a factor for a few reasons…

One, the measures were already in-place and they were "strained to the breaking point" rather than broken, so fixing them shouldn't be anywhere near as monumental as erecting said barrier.  Just slap on some spackle and maybe a fresh coat of paint, neh? ;)

Two, MH had to be unopposed to start her spell, and it fell to tatters as soon as she was cut off from Misty, so it wasn't one of those "runs even when the caster is KO'd" varietals and it instantly quit hosing up the barrier.

Three, the SC is also a critter man should not wot of… and from that: Four, Nodens created her to preserve the barrier, so he probably also designed her with the ability to generate spiritual spackle.  Even gave her a trowel-tentacle with a ducky on the blade, if you squint and twist your head a little. ;)  (okay, so I made that last bit up…)
