Heh. I'd never ignore a light like that. :p
Sometimes you're lucky to get a light. One time with a car I had once, I took it in to get an oil change and got told that the past place changing it hadn't put the plug in all the way. I never noticed a drip from it, and it never gave me a light during that 3 or so months, but when I went to get the oil changed, they said there was hardly any oil left in it. :p
Scared the heck outta me. Still, I only found out at the oil change because it was still running just fine. :p

When your engine needs to be replaced, its generally cheaper and easier to just buy a new car.

I would tend to agree, in all honesty. Unless it was a warranty replacement at the time. And if it had to be replaced under warranty for going bad… well, do you WANT to keep the car? :p

The selfsame thought I had… though I imagine that thing had a bit of a monster under the hood, maybe not all that safe in a lil old lady's set of wheels?

Well, you can't really just swap any engine for another so easily. I mean, Chip's car was an 2002 Audi TT. This is a 20 year old Cadillac. Not exactly compatible.

Yeah, you should have seen the look my grandfather gave me when I suggested we take the Hemi out of the body damaged F150 and put it into the Fiat frame he had sitting in the back yard. Bigger engine means it goes faster right?
Granted I was only 12 at the time, but still…

It's time for another good idea, bad idea: Good Idea – Getting your Insider character into the comic Bad Idea – Joining the EOD to do so. Gratz to Jacobus for the New Avatar!

This happened to the girlfriend of one of my friends. She said that she thought that a buzzer or something would sound if it was really important . . . Locked her engine up tighter than Alcatraz, had to scrap the car.

Today's panels made me sad. I'd feel really bad for the lady if I were to witness something similar. Interestingly, the analogy of her attitude and her perception of reality and the way that perception is challenged mirrors the comic itself incredibly well.
The people at large are so quick to believe what society is telling them is reality and that if we just do this or have this we'll be safe. We blind ourselves willingly to warning signs that are shining brightly at us and have been for a long time. Then when bad things happen because we took no action; we couldn't even begin to pay for the consequences. Andeven more sad, there are those who will gleefully and rightously point our our ineptness or worse yet take advantage of it. =p
Not that I've ever had a car's engine sieze on me or anything. No, never…
