That's right.  Totally doesn't count in the mouth.

I mean *ahem*  Had to be reading this page while "Discostick" was playing.

So… the art is incredible.  And you guys are already making me laugh.

<3 <3 <3

Totally worth the wait.

Just a pretty little flower, but don't make the mistake of thinking it's sweet.

I want to know more about the redhead. She makes me suddenly realize that everyone who isn't Misty has black hair.

It's time for another good idea, bad idea:
Good Idea – Getting your Insider character into the comic
Bad Idea – Joining the EOD to do so.

Gratz to Jacobus for the New Avatar!

Poor Girls…..

Never, NEVER incur in the Destroyer's wrath!!! (I see a good catfight in the near future)

By the way, weren't those brats part of Misty's camarilla in the rave incident?

As always, GREAT job men!

P.S: PacMan rules!!!

I thought that was cool, too. Pi…

And I like how subtle the vein on Tabbi's forehead is seen.

Really, this DOES take me back to high school. There were several occassions when teachers would just kind of "let" students go back and forth for a little bit

I guess first lesson of the day is don't get into a fight with people who have dirt on you.

Well that clears up some things at least… Arachnus JeremyIronsus is out to steal Freddy's throne.

HA! The teacher zinged the bitchy ones! Nice.

Kind of reminds me of middles school P.E. One time, this kid was giving me a hard time for not running very fast, so at one point, when he was ahead of me, I dashed past him and gave him a smack upside the head. He complained to the teacher, who responded with something along the lines of "you had it coming, you wouldn't leave him alone."

And I thought that…was awesome.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but surely the bedsprings would be louder than the revolving door? Or the headboard trying to jackhammer through the wall?

I keeed, I keeed ;)

Occasionally, you do get teachers like that.  They realize that the system doesn't always work, and so if someone needs to take care of it themselves, they turn the other cheek.  There are a couple of legends like that from high school.

I had a science teacher like that. I was reading a mag (a computer mag, but a mag) during a lecture and the girl next to me did the "Coach (retired coach for a science teacher), he's not paying attention!" Coach asked me what I was doing and I held up the mag. Not like I could lie my desk was infront of his. He looked at me, then her and said: "When you can get a passing grade, you can read a magazine instead of listening to me too." But now that I think about it, it was a week after I aced the mid-year exam, maybe that had something to do with it. :D

Honestly… I've always had a severe contempt for teachers and professors. Not counting high school teachers, I can count on one hand the instructors I've had that didn't insult my intelligence or make me feel inferior in some manner. (I don't count high school, because honestly, I was kind of a dick back then.) Four professors in my entire life who I thought were excellent teachers, who I learned from and talked to me on terms of an educator to a student, as opposed to a bitter person trying to justify his or her choices in life. And I met those four in the last year. Hell, I only just realized a year ago that i was actually smart. Ironically, I discoverd this AFTER I started to attend a real college as opposed to a liberal arts college.

I always thought I was an idiot.

Turns out, I just couldn't tolerate bullshit.

See, Liberal Arts college is wher eyou went wrong. We all know the 6 most common words said by a liberal arts major:

Would you like fries with that?

It's been my experience that two things make great teachers: security and training. Every good teacher I had before college had recent training in HOW to teach. Every good teacher I had in college was either at the top of their department, or secure in their position. By comparrison, the worst I ever had were either ancient teachers in grade schools, or grad students who had to teach for a year to finish their degree.

Still, having been in a High School classroom in the last year, I can safely say that there would be at least one Expulsion of this scene, because the Zero Tolerence crap is pretty harsh.

Sporky, I'll agree with you- I've been on that side of the desk as a grad student who had to teach to eat and live somewhere somewhat nicer than a cardboard box.  I had tutored before, and I learned the basics from Mom, but I couldn't do it.  I was a horrid lecturer.  Teaching is HARD, and no one seems to recognize that, or provide training for the people that need it most.

You ask me, the hardest thing about being a teacher is probably some of the students. You can yammer all day about mitosis, but some kids just are just going to ignore it or won't absorb it. There are those that have a genuine learning problem; they have trouble retaining the knowledge no matter how much they REALLY try. But the ones that coast through not giving a crap what you say…they're the bigger issue.

My point is that the students have to learn THEMSELVES, and not all of them want to do that. So it's not always the fault of teachers or the school or governemnt programs that a given city's/state's drop-out rate is higher than they'd like. Some kids just don't care to learn. And the frustration of dealing with that lot can really wear down a person that's supposed to help them become productive, useful members of society.

I'm not really sure how this turned into a debate about teaching, but since it has, I feel the need to add my two cents. :)

I was a teacher.  I am no longer.  Because I LOVED teaching.  I loved working with the kids, figuring out new ways to teach them, trying out new lessons.  And then, I was told to stop.  Suddenly, I was not allowed to make my own decisions about my classroom and my kids.  I was handed a 3-inch binder that had EVERY lesson I was to teach for the entire year.  And each was labeled with a day.  If I didn't do the right lesson on the right day, I could lose my job.  Even if my kids needed extra time to learn something, I was not allowed to give it to them.  This was frustrating for all of us, so I threw the lesson plan book out the window and taught the concepts.  My students scored better on every test they took that year.  I got reprimanded for not sticking to the district's plans.

So, please, before you judge teachers, understand that some of us are trying.  I could not come to terms with the new system, so I quit.  Not everyone has that option, and trust me, the frustration of being told what to do by a bunch of people who have never worked in a classroom can burn out even the best teachers in a matter of months.

I'm not saying that bad teachers don't exist.  I'm just saying that they seem to be the ones left over after all of the good ones have burned out from trying to do what's right for their kids.

Okay, I'll step off my soapbox now. :)
