Dave Reynolds said:But just for the record, "Merri" is an informal name, much like how "Big Purple" is an informal name for Deep One Prime.
I am guessing her real name is something unspeakable with a human mouth.

Actually what's been said in the comic is that they don't have names at all. They refers to themselves as "This One" or "Offspring" or on rare occassion "Little Father". The only one who came close was the Prime and who had forsaken his real name. (Robert Olmstead)

Reminds me of the first episode of Gargoyles:
Gargoyle elder (Hudson): Must you humans name everything? Nothing's real to you 'til you've named it, given it limits. Elisa Maza: It's not like that. It's just that, well… uh… things need names. Gargoyle elder (Hudson): Does the sky need a name? Does the river? Elisa Maza: The river's called the Hudson. Hudson: Fine, lass. Then I will be the Hudson as well.

It's time for another good idea, bad idea: Good Idea – Getting your Insider character into the comic Bad Idea – Joining the EOD to do so. Gratz to Jacobus for the New Avatar!

Things need names so that they can be distinguished from one another when they are not present to be pointed at. The sky and the river have names, even before the river is named "Hudson"; they are "sky" and "river". Else you could not talk about them when not looking at them, and you would still have the difficulty in their presence if you have to point through trees at either, in distinguishing them from one of the trees, if you did not have some kind of label. Otherwise, there would be no need for nouns in the first place, except, possibly, "me", "you" and "that"… and even those would be iffy.
But that is not the sort of answer a person can come up with on the spot, unless they've been asked that question before and given it serious consideration.

Why are we arguing about naming things? If the creators say there aren't names, or that the names are not something used between the creatures WE have named, then leave it at that.
Remember, you are not a fishmonster slad thing. You simply don't understand how their society works. Now accept it, plant it, and move on

Thanks.
So the Progenetoirs themselves don't have names. Only the hybrids, and then only if they were raised as humans, and not in the ocean with the others.

And the Sinestro Corps version is up. Yellow should surprise absolutely no one. Hell… If the SInestro Corps existed in this universe, I guarantee that crazy little bitch not only would have been picked, she might have actually overthrown Sinestro and renamed it the Mistletoe Corps.

Does not quite conjure the same images though boss.
Love the art as always!

Yeesh, could you make her look any MORE psycho?! Great job! And if you think of it J, it's always the cute ones that cause the most hell. So the Mistletoe Corp would be truly horrifying! An army of psycho cheerleaders intent on making the universe in their image! *shudders*

I loved the skirt. I was also a little surprised there weren't any Hydra Tentacles in the picture.

Look at the symbol placement in the background. They are alluded too.

Oh no. I can see it now…
None-stop barn raves.
Virgin sacrifices.
Nothing on the TV but reality shows about Paris Hilton.
The horror. The HORROR.

The way she behaves in the comic, it's so very easy to forget that Misty is three years younger than Becka. Here, though, that difference shows up in her lack of… certain… um… curves. The fact that she's shorter than the others due to her less-progressed age has resulted in her viewing position being closer in than Lindsey or Moira, in order to give her the same height in the image, making the details of her figure even more apparent. Then add in the mixture of domineering pride and burning viciousness in her facial expression, plus that bulky shoulder pad on her right shoulder, and that brings things to the point where from the waist up she looks… almost… gulp… masculine.
(Ducks and covers and throws up a force field…)

*Throws a pie at Dan* there. One question. Is there gonna be an archive of the entire Lantern series when the Daves are done? I'm hoping so.

Probably so. And maybe even something better. Or a rock. A big bag of Charlie Brown Halloween rocks.

As I'm not so familiar with the emblems of the Lantern corps, nor have much knowledge of the spectrum storyline beyond this conversation and some commentary by Brad Guigar in the Evil, Inc. blog, I can't make any assumptions and thus have to ask… Are the symbols used in this artwork direct matches for those used in the DC material? If not, could this artwork possibly make it into some of the SG merchandise once the series is complete?

All the symbols used are the official Lantern symbols. They're DC property.

Seriously? A pie? That is soooo not what I was dodging / hiding / shielding against. I was more waaaay concerned about Misty taking offense to the comments about her pre-adolescent figure…
Okay, fine, whatever. Food fight!!!!!
