Dinah righted the few second and third hand chairs in her living room. Months of careful budgeting and it was all set back by a petty robbery.  She glanced at the calendar, her move out date had been marked by sticker balloons. It wasn't going to happen now, not with the damages to the apartment that she'd have to repair. She pulled a brass pocket watch out and pressed the latch to release the cover. She checked the time, giving her statement to the police hadn't taken nearly as long as she thought. Sighed and pulled the laptop out of her messenger bag. Clearing a spot on the couch of debris that she hadn't finished cleaning up yet she collapsed bonelessly. Dinah booted up the laptop and logged into the secure forum that the mysterious Fides had e-mailed to her. The e-mail had come when she'd first found herself having to make due in Innsmouth until she could scrape together the funds to leave.  She tangled her fingers in the pocket watch's chain as she read over the most recent posts again. There had not been anything for a few days. She glanced around her trashed apartment again. "Oh well, what the hell, it's not like I have to give them an address or even a state."

I was advised to see you guys out a couple of months ago. I haven't said much at first because I was working to many shifts to do more than glance at things before passing out and later because I didn't feel I had anything to add.  Back just before I was told to find you guys I was on a road trip and after picking up an antique book and a pocket watch at a flea market someone started following me. I only got a few looks but it wasn't anyone normal.  The book was stolen out of my car in New York.  I was still being followed until my car broke down here. I haven't seen what was following since I got way layed in this town.  I've been trying to get up the funds to move back west but something always seems to come up. My land lord is annoyingly sympathize of the situation.

I haven't seen anything nearly as dramatic as what you guys have described but there's little things here. You don't go down by the docks at night and you stay away from the old houses on the hill. If you follow the rules nobody talks about you'll get by but not many people here get ahead.  I let new comers know where not to go to keep breathing like someone warned me when I first came here.  I've been making a list of the less dramatic things, places where people go and stop being themselves and things like that. I'll go with the idea that I'm lucky that I've missed the dramatic things.

Dinah

Dinah reread the post before committing to hit the send button. Once it was out in cyberspace she rubbed her blood shot hazel eyes and got back to cleaning up the mess in the apartment. She double checked the new dead bolt and the locks on the windows, not keen on sleeping in a place that had just been broken into but not having any other options either.

You've got me beat Dinah, I've been having nothing but unfriendly encounters since I got close to this damn town.  I got cornered by no less then five guys last night, barely made it out in one piece let alone left a mark.  I'm no idiot when it's 5 on 1 and the five are armed this time around, I ran like a little girl after I broke a nose or two.  The manager gave me some crap when I got to work.  Said I was looking like that Marv guy and asked if I was in a fight club or something.  Told him it happened in an accident, but if I get roughed up much more I won't be able to cover it up.  I also learned that my nice expensive jacket with it's slash-resistant liner doesn't do jack against a baseball bat.  Then to top it all off, my second base of operations just got bulldozed.  So I'm typing away at a fast food joint and sleeping in my car.  I'm already starting to smell and I can't get a decent night sleep.  I might be a little slower in running next time someone wants to take a whack at this pinata.

Oh I'm sure that if I sent any of the first goon squad to the hospital they should be out now.  One was a kid in his early twenties looked like a stereotypical footballer.  Broke his nose and probably cracked some ribs.  Next one looked like an accountant in his 40's starting to go bald and fat.  Knocked out a mouthful of teeth and broke his arm, maybe his leg too.  Last one looked like a real tough though, about 6'6'' 300 pounds of muscle.  Went down fast and cried a lot.  Probable concussion.  Not bragging, just letting you know who to watch out for, not much chance of running into guys that look like them with similar injuries right?

And I'll form the head!

I didn't think that anyone would take my little statement so vehemently. I was merely stating my agency's official stance on the issue and the reasons behind it. If it seemed a little… strong on my end, well, there are reasons and they are my own.

Back on topic, the guns are not magically powered to our knowledge. I will say now that the day we give access to the magiclal items in our "inventory" is the day all is lost. We are also sure that the guns don't feed from the bio-electricity in the body. We know because, long story short, the creators of the weapons have no natural electricity in their bodies to speak of. Before you ask, no, I am not joking. But Tink seems to be making progress and this will no doubt help many people. My agency is grateful.

Take pride in what in what you have done. But know that in the end you shall be alone and in darkness.

Oh, Dinah, darling.  You poor thing.  I wish I could help. . .

What am I saying?  I can help.  I'd like to meet you and talk to you a bit, but unless you give me the heeby-jeebies, I'm willing to let you come out to the Farm for a little while.  I know you've gotta do what you gotta do with your job and whatnot, but if you need a weekend away, the Farm is a great place to clear your head.  Plus, I can pretty much guarantee that you will pick up a few things that will help you survive the streets of Innsmouth a little better.  I don't know that I can rescue you, and we'll have to be careful that whoever is following you can't find their way to the Farm, but I'm willing to try, if you need it.

I know you don't know me, Love, but you sound like you need someone to help you out, and that's what I do best.  Besides, I know that nothing makes you feel better like a slice of hot apple pie, just out of the oven – and my pie, it's the best. :)

M'lady Dinah. I'm in Rhode Island ATM. Had a fugitive to pick up as it were, after I drop this scum off I'll most likely head to..well somewhere in your area. If you wish I can see what I can do about getting you to Lady Inara's, or at least to rendevous with her prefer transport agent. Although I admit I'm itching for some good pie, I'd need a secure location to leave my vehicles and other gear.

OOC: Sorry Adamas I think we posted at the same time. Edit to include Adamas response as there hasn't been any response to mine yet.

Thank you for the offer Inara. I'm not sure if or when I'll be able to you up on that.  It's been an interesting day

Dinah leaned back and looked at what she had just typed and shook her head at her own understatement. She drummed her fingers on the card table in her apartment.

I'll back up a step or to.  Tain is currently making use of my couch. Meeting him was a bit of an adventure. I'll let him tell that if he wants it out in the open. Hopefully a few extra shifts (and no more damage to my apartment) and I'll be out of of my current hole and be in a better place to make it out there.

Adamas, I don't have anywhere to secure your stuff. Until yesterday evening I hadn't really thought about the need for security. Time for me to get a whole new education I guess.

The young woman glanced up as she heard a groan from the couch. She'd best finish up this post and get back to the analog world.

Sounds like Tain's waking up. I'd better go make sure he remembers where he is. I'll keep in touch.

At Dinah's place.  Looks like she had some trouble recently so I've been trying to fix up the place.  Gonna have to go hit up a store soon, damage is pretty bad.  Should get the place up and running in less time then it took to get my netbook to work with the router.  Apartment so I can't go crazy, but a new deadbolt is definately in order.  Fair price for a place to crash for the night and a hot shower.  What is it with ladies, bathrooms, and unmentionables?

Had a run in with a thug chasing Dinah.  Didn't realize how bad I was busted up.  Might have to actually see a doctor for this one.

OR, gee… I dunno… maybe call for help from the one doctor you know that won't ask stupid questions??  Did you get kicked in the head again, Tain?

Hera sighs and shakes her head, wondering how many times he's going to run that hard head into a brick wall and forget that there are people who can help without turning him in to the cops.

Dinah, if he starts showing any signs of needing true medical attention, just send out a shout here and I'll get to you somehow.  Spirits know I've put that idiot back together more than once in the last year or so.  Basically, there are two choices.  You can corral him and bring him to me or I can come to you.  Which ever you feel more comfortable with, my dear.  Should you need directions, I'm sure my mate can get them to you most securely and quite quickly.  Until then, be aware that while injured Tain can be… a handful.  Do not attempt to restrain him. That will only end *pause* painfully.  Other than that, I'm sure you're quite safe, however.

All has been relatively quite here, so should any of you having close encounters need aid, simply chime in here and I'll see what I can do.  Take care all.

Dr. Hera I think it may be best if we got Tain out to you.  He's not getting any better, and I may kill him if I come home again find him wheezing because he pushed to hard trying to get something done.  The last few days have been quiet here but I don't think it will last so best to take advantage of it while we can.

I'm just outside of town, he can rest in my trailer while we wait for Hera. It's comfortable enough and I have a couple of shocking surprises if someone decides to try and break in.

Just send me where and when  and I'll be there.

I'll naturally keep a watchful eye during Tain's transfer, my love; the enemy may yet attempt to kill or perhaps even brainwash him, if he is in a weakened state.  Of course, if he should be unwise enough to irk you sufficiently, just give the word and I'll ensure his cranium's exterior matches its interior. Fors cackles, then spears his webcam with a grin before continuing, apologetically.  Only joking, Tain…

Fors lapses into quiet chuckles, then continues.  Oh, and Delphi?  By definition it should be simple to enter a place if you've been invited; like her manipulations in the Tellurian, Fides' IS measures are exceedingly subtle, and her techniques only grow more intricate as the conspiracy continues.  I'd caution you against attempting to abuse the system, however, as her countermeasures can be a touch extreme.

Indeed, dearest, indeed… Hera chuckles ruefully.  Now before we taunt Tain into proving just how stubborn and contrary he can be, please get me an exchange location so we can transfer the knucklehead with as little fuss as possible.  I've packed a few "Tain specials" should it prove necessary, but I'm sure Dinah would prefer he not keel over on her threshold.

The assistance in hiding him is most appreciated adamas!  Recouping our wounded has long been one of our more difficult tasks as keeping them safe and secure can get  bit tricky. Take care and we'll be there soon to relieve you of our wit-wandering comrade.   Still grinning at Tain's expense, Hera moves off to double check the contents of a large canvas satchel, occasionally removing or adding small items as she goes over a mental list before moving out of sight of the webcam.

Adamas grins wickedly into the camera, pulling the stitches on his own face before he turns slightly to look at something off-screen.

It's no problem at all m'lady. It's not the first time I've used my trailer as a defensive position. Some of my "Clients" are…lets say reluctant about making my acquaintance, and a few had friends who didn't like me Shanghai-ing them.In the meantime, I'm gonna grab a bite. The diner across the street looks like it might have a decent burger.Adamas gets up out of his chair and throws on a black light duster before turning the screen off.

Fors quirks a brow.  I believe adamas has volunteered his trailer as an exchange point, unless I am misinterpreting something; I'll go on ahead and do some scouting to ensure Tain's trip to there is as uneventful as possible.  Dinah, please sound off when you're ready.  In the meantime… Fors rises with a grin, pulls Hera off-camera for a moment, and then a moment later he pelts before the camera in the opposite direction with Hera in hot pursuit.  The squeal of a window being hastily opened can be heard, and then Hera strolls back to resume packing.

Rolling her eyes, Hera fiddles with a salt shaker before picking up a few more items to be added to her pack.

Smarty pants… I was referring to the fact that I wasn't even sure where Adamas had stashed himself, birdbrain, much less where he was going to meet up with Dinah.  If you can zero in on that for me, I'm as ready as I can be and will be on the move as soon as we get the word from the lady.

Toying with the elaborately beaded feather dangling from her hair, Hera settles into a comfortable looking chair, pack at her feet, and picks up a book.  Soon she is intent upon her text, though always alert to a summons.

Who said anything about me hiding M'lady? Sometimes the best camoflage is a neon sign saying "Here I am!" Adamas looks off screen a moment with a trickster's grin on his face.  I should be easy to find, just look for the 10,000 B.C reject unconcious and smoking on a park bench. Seems someone got a little TOO close to my wheels. I better move him before the cops notice. Ta-ta.

Take it from my own personal experiance Adamas…. the neon sign is NEVER good camouflage.   The whole point is to stay hidden.  Screaming "FU@# YOU YA FU@#ING FISHFU@#ERS!!! at the top of your lungs is temporarily more satisfying, but in the long run it just tells them that there's someone who knows about them that they need to deal with.  It's best if they don't even know you exist.  For the time being, just make sure to keep that neon sign away from me, or the Ark in general.

That being said, I'ma headed back in from the farm, stupid pollen count is worse than ususal this year and it's slightly better on the coast… I swear I should just move out to the desert, but then I'd miss ya'll too much, an I might as well make myself useful.  I should be at the Ark sometime tonight (pending suzy's willingness to deal with me for that long) and she'll prolly need someone to  help scrape me off the bottom of the plane.  I could sure use a friendly face on my first night back.

I'm taking a momentary break from my scouting to report in… I've located adamas' trailer's current locale using the hints he's dropped on the board, and I've noted a few dubious vehicles that are prowling the streets.  And adamas, I'd cautiously heed Maz's words were I you, as I've noted dubious tracks around your place.  More news, as it becomes available.

*to Hera* Here's where the trailer is at, my clever girl, though I'd prefer to be there when you arrive… those tracks are not exactly unfamiliar to either of us.
