…I was kind of kidding, but okay. Send me a list, and I'll check on 'em.
So much for a normal job. Speaking of which… maybe the library has a few non work-study positions. I need to check on that.

Adamas looks confused.Umm Trickster, I left that bag in MY chimney before I left Alabama. Unless one of your brethren decided to play deliveryman I'd keep a beady eye out.
And Tink, most Feds I've met tend to make a rock look like the incarnation of Coyote himself when it comes to humor. I think i'll have to thrw something together if I chance to run into I,I, and I.

Now, now, how would I ever have gotten there and back to Massachusetts in such a short span of time at such short notice? Surely, you must have misspoken. Fors chuckles quietly.
Incidentally, as a heads-up to all newcomers, it's best touch upon some few details with only the lightest of innuendo, even here… Fides chooses her unknowing pawns and Insider allies well, and protects this network most ably, but we've had Insiders forcibly turned in the past, and only discretion has preserved us.

I would offer you a job at the Kargatane, but it is neither normal nor safe.
I would rather die than be turned against my will. I don't think that they would bother me either, because of my current association.. I'd rather not risk it, though. If someone has the time, I am sorely in need of physical and weapons training. I am not as in shape as I should be, and the only weapon training I have ever had was watching movies as a kid.

Tink, these are the works you need to look for. If any are missing contact us immediatley:
Any translations of the Necronomicon The Records of the "Dunwich Incident" as written by Dr.Henry Armitage
The Autobiography of Dr.Henry Armitage
Any of the works of Randolph Carter The records of the 1931 Starweather-Moore Expedition to Antarctica
The translation of the "Ponape Scripture"
The first act of "The King in Yellow"
The "Celano Fragments"
Any of Francis Wayland Thurston's writings published following his death.
Any reports involving the 1972 Woodstock concert in Ingolstadt,Germany
OOC: Does anyone know if its possible to upload documents onto the forum? I would have preferred to do that instead of actually listing them here. If it's not possible or allowed that's cool, I just want to know for the future.

Chronic, my fiance actually does the weapons training for the Insiders. Tell me when you'd like to come out and I will send my friend, Sue, out with her plane to pick you up. Don't be surprised when she asks you to leave your cell phone behind – those things are too good at recording locations, and we don't know you well enough to trust you with that information, yet.
When you come, bring workout clothes and enough toiletries to last a long weekend. You won't need any sort of entertainment – we'll keep you busy.
Also, I have a few second-hand laptops around so you will have internet access. Plus, I know these are safe.
See you soon!

I will have to inform my employer when I leave, but he can run the place without me. I suspect I am only there to keep normal people out in any case..
I distrust most technology in any event. It is far too easy to use it in ways that were not intended..
I understand the lack of trust. However, have you thought about other ways that I could track my own path? A small implanted GPS would work just as well, I would assume. Just a thought.
I rarely find the need to bring entertainment. My mind provides it's own entertainment, a fun side-effect of being in control of my own dreams. I certainly hope to get a lot of use out of the weekend, though. I am woefully inadequate to do anything but serve as a meatshield at present.
You know these computers are safe? Even humans can break through so-called secure connections used by the government. You have better technology/ skill than they do? On second thought, that would not be too difficult.
See you soon.

Hmm, last time I worked for the government I ended up with a face full of more metal then a teen at a Mastodon concert. No thanks I already bled for my country. Not that any of you in particular are bad people, I just will be sticking as far away as possible ya know?
Well I suppose the lack of homeless is a bit of a blessing. Found several abandoned homes with zero squatters (Until now). Personally I think I'd rather find a place somewhere outside town before digging in. Before I forget again, did anyone else get a "Safe List" with a bunch of supposedly safe places from that "Fides" person. I still wanna know how they knew what they knew and in such a strange environment I'm not inclined to trust anyone.

Wonderful! I will send Sue out with a plane this afternoon. Meet her at the Innsmouth airport at 6:00 pm Eastern time.
And yeah, we've thought of the other types of GPS tracking, and you'll just have to trust that you could never enter Sue's plane if you had such a device. I won't give out the details on here – it's too risky – but suffice it to say that I'm not worried.
And yes, I know these computers are safe. Government agencies rarely think to employ hackers to secure their networks. We, on the other hand, are not so narrow-minded. <grin>
See you tonight!

That wasn't your fault, Maz. Bad things happen- if it was anyone's fault, it was mine… No, scratch that. If it was anyone's fault, it was the stupid rat's.
All of those books appear to be accounted for, I (say hi to J and K for me). Though apparently, handling books containing information man should not wot of gives women a mild case of eczema.

Very good, Tink. You've saved us a lot of headaches.*Irving is sitting at a desk wearing a white work shirt. His jacket is draped on his chair. He appears to be in a storage unit of some sort but it is hard to be sure. Ian and Ivan can be seen carrying and sorting crates and items in the background* Now for our part of the bargain. *He holds up two small black objects. They look a little like rocks but they have small bumps which seem to be part of a small network along with silver lines running across the surface. One has a piece of red tape on it; the other a piece of green tape.* These little things are called "electric guns". They are a form of weapon used by those who'd like to exploit mankind. Don't underestimate them. As you can surmise from the name, they shoot off a form of electricity. Like so. *He gets up from his desk and walks in front of a target. He then takes the gun with the green tape and holds it in an odd way corresponding with the assorted bumps. A second later, a flash of blue lightning erupts from the end of the weapon; the paper target quickly is set aflame. Ian walks over with a fire extinguisher and puts it out; shaking his head as he does so* And the excess electricity is known to burn out the nervous systems in human beings; killing instantly in many cases. Those that live tend to be the kind of people who survive lightning strikes, the very very lucky. I'm giving you two of these to examine. *Holds up the green taped one* This one has been modified for human use. This will probably be the one you experiment with the most but I'd best warn you, even with the alterations there is a risk of electrocution. Though most of the recorded accidents with these weapons only wound or burn, there is no sense in having you go in unwarned and unprepared. *Holds up the red taped one* This one hasn't been modified and cannot be used by humans period. You can use this one as a control unit. I wouldn't recommend altering this one like the other. Those that know how to safely alter one of these tend to take the secret to their graves. Those that don't tend to end up in graves sooner than most. *Takes both and places them in a small wooden box then begins to package it.* You'll find this on your doorstep within a few days. I'd keep a close eye out for it. We ask only one thing when you study these items. We'd like you to somehow find a way to neutralize these weapons, preferably from a distance. If you do so you will be responsible for the salvation of untold lives that would otherwise be taken by very hostile forces. *Hands the package to Ivan who promptly leaves after a nod from Irving* Good luck.

Why would you neutralize them? They are useful, and unless you know them to be sentient, they operate as a weapon should: they kill things. I would think the government would be attempting to reverse-engineer them for their own use.
Do you know if they work on non-humans as well?
I am merely curious. They seem somehow to be familiar, like something used on a regular basis.. Are you going to supply additional information about them?

Hopefully THIS time the rat is gone for good. All these new folks stories check out? Sorry, i've been burned too many times not to have learned a little caution. must be ok if Fides vetted them. As far as the rat goes… Damn thing is like a cockroach. long story short. some kinda homicidal mutant man sized rat thing. 'Bout a year ago it started munching on college students, then blew up a Lenny's, tried to poison the reservoir with bathtub Viagra, and then kidnapped.. Emm… apparently all just to Fu@# with Bell there. Hopefully this time the damn thing will STAY gone… more stuff goin on, gotta go. will post more later…

Chronic, I believe I Cell was requesting a way of negating their effects when wielded by another – a hammer of sufficient heft would probably neutralize them in their own hands.
And Maz, I'm with you in wishing that that vermin will stay gone at last – she's suffered more than her fair share of nastiness.

Yes Forsythe, that is what we wanted done. Trust me, however, when I say that it takes more than a hammer to damage the guns. They are of a superior durablilty than would be expected from their appearance. Now Chronische,*Irving begins to glare coldly. Well, more coldly than usual.* we do not use the weapons of the enemy. We do not. It leads only to tragedy. You think you can control the forces in play here? Look at the very group we are fighting; at some point they thought they could too. Everyone thinks that they can "handle it". They think they can stay in control. They are all wrong. They become the servants and lackeys of things that would destroy not only this country but the whole planet. Besides, my agency would like to believe that mankind as a whole is above all that. So no, we have no personal use for the items we gave Tink. They were captured during a night at the opera a few years ago and they have been collecting dust since. *Ian walks up to Irving. Irving whispers something into his ear causing Ian to nod and walk out* As for more information on the guns themselves you can go to Tink for technical information when they are studied but, for now, anything regarding their origins or creators is on a strict need-to-know basis.

If not he's one of those problems that I want to fix with fire. I owe him that much at least. Inara, I'm desperate enough to let you send Sue to pick me up to get out there. I've got enough Vodka and Claritin to see me through a flight and long visit over spring break… It just Fu@#Ing figures… Spring break happens and I just don't have it in me to be around those stupid chippies anymore. Another thing to say Fu@# You to those fish-Fu@#ing inbred jerk-a-ca-fu@#ers in innsmouth. GOD DAMN YOU EOD FOR RUINING SPRING BREAK!!!!
Now that that's outta my system If you've got bunk space free I'd appreciate it. I'll likely be my usual charming self on arrival so it'd prolly be best to have some folks on hand to carry me to a bunk to sleep it off. Sorry.. you know how it is.

I surely know that using the enemy's tactics and weapons can lead to sorrow, but assuming that it is always the case is something I would only expect someone from the government to do.
It is a foolish way to look at it, unless it is inherently corrupting (like, for example, their magic). If you know it is no more harmful to the user's mind and psyche than any other weapon, then is it much worse than a gun? Sure, it disintegrates, but dead is dead.
Making compromises is bad, but how is this a compromise? Using knowledge and tools of other cultures is something humanity has done quite successfully for eons. This is only different in that the culture we are taking from is quite evil and vastly more durable and foul than the worst of human civilization.
I suppose that you can look at it in such a way that "anything used by the enemy is inherently bad", but that is not really looking to the future. They can make better guns. Our rate of advancement is sadly lacking, as far as I know. Unless we have weapons that can kill nasties as well as they can kill us?
