Fors cocks his head at her and rolls an eye.  I'e een through oorse.  Chuckling in a warbling tone to lighten the mood, he gestures for her to hold onto his torso.  Ut yeah, I'll get us there.

Tink manages to fit the trembling kitten into her backpack and hangs on to Fors.

Don't slip, okay?

Fors laughs, the sound coming out in a croaking tone, and he shakes his head at her.  Nuh chance, just hang on tight!  Fors waits until Tink gets ahold, then dives off the mountain's face as she shrieks.  Gathering speed, he beats his wings firmly to gain altitude, and in less time than it takes to type this sentence the two are past the ruined trail.  Landing jarringly, he cushions Tink and her passengers from the shock as best he can without losing his balance, and leans against the mountainside for a moment, his lungs laboring like a bellows as he slowly changes back.  *pant* That… took alot out of me, give me a minute…

(It's a WoW Raid night, so I'm gonna be all over the place it seems ;) )

In the mountains -

The trail past the rocky break is smooth.  Within a couple minutes the pair reaches a large cave mouth.  While the area is harsh, cold cutting winds and snow are everywhere it seems, this cave is somewhat inviting for some reason.  Loud growls and a deep man's voice echo loudly even from this distance.  Lit torches mark a path leading deeper into the mountain itself.

And I'll form the head!

Tink's shivering from the cold.  She's taken Ninja out of her backpack and is now clutching him to her chest, trying to stay warm.  She heads in the cavern fairly quickly for her.

I-it s-sounds bad, b-but n-nothing's tried to hurt us so f-far…

Fors strides alongside Tink, watching the flickering shadows with extra care.  So far, so good at any rate… but anything's possible.  Wait, you look frozen solid – here, take this, I'm still overheated from that flight.  Fors removes his jacket and offers it to her.

(( heh only post for tonight I fear for me, LONG day))

Adamas ducks around the shield, aiming his shotgun and firing it at the dragon's mouth while it was open between bursts, dozens of miniture steel arrows flying in tight clusters burst from the barrel in three volleys as he charged foward at an angle to keep the dragon's attention on him.

Come on! The Morrigan's ravens will feast on your body tonight you handicaped iguana!

Cutter ducked the other way, firing short bursts from the P-90 into the area that Adamas fired into, a strange screeching wail coming from her.

Unless I gravely miss my guess, we're in the land of the invisible artifacts… and we should return once the King is healed.  Offhand, I wouldn't be surprised if all of these so-called artifacts are simply mental detritus loosed by the King's fracturing – they might vanish once we complete this task.  On a side note, even if we fail here, we ought still be able to return – we both have goggles, and some minor tweaking to their functionality ought to allow us to spot at least one safe portal home.

Fors gives her a grin.  Besides, we're both just too damn cool to be lost in mental space.  He naturally takes a pratfall, just then.

(Sorry my guildies ran a rabid pace and I didn't have time to post between bosses ;) )

- In the Mountain

The sounds grow in volume until the pair round a bend.  Fighting some massive creature that appears to be a cross between a shark and an octopus is a bear of a man.  He's a fairly tail and heavily muscled man with bright red hair.  He spins the creature around and smashes it's head violently into the floor, decisively ending the contest.  His green eyes peer out of a bearded and tattooed face, almost very much like some Celtic warrior of old.  The heavy chainmail clashes in terms of style with the large kilt he's wearing.  He crosses his arms across a barrel chest before errupting into a booming laugh and a smile.

"Ho there friends sorry if this little guppy gave you a scare before I shuffled him off to meet his maker.  I'm Hero and I've been waiting a very long time for you all to show up.  We have a few minutes before the next beastie shuffles down and needs a good clobbering, so if you have any questions now's the time!"

And I'll form the head!

You're the Hero…

Tink looks skeptical.

What are we supposed to get from you to help heal the King?

Hero laughs again as a small creature climbs up his back.  The spindly humanoid tries to bite him in vain and slaps at his armor.  Hero causally backhands the creature into the wall behind him.

"That's easy!  Girlie you just need to get my spear!  I will warn you though, it'll take more then a pep talk to get it.  This is the realm of heroes, you'll have to face Fear itself to claim it.  You'd best hurry though that monster's on his way to collect you.  Oh and no feathers for you I'm afraid, it's all part of the test though."

He shrugs towards Fors

"You just take that passage over to the left of ya.  Just be warned that it won't be easy at all and you won't be getting any help from Hope or Innocence.  You have to stand on your own two legs."

He turns as a new nightmarish monster rushes into the cavern from deep in the mountain.  Without a word he quickly engages it in fierce physical combat.

And I'll form the head!

Tink looks at Ninja, who doesn't seem worried, and cautiously takes a few steps down the path.

I think he might be telling the truth.

Fors snorts.  Fear, you say?  Sir, I believe I have plumbed truer meanings of the word than even yourself.  You'll have your spear, though I trust you'll supply your own magic helmet.

The sooner we get it, the sooner we can resolve the situation and leave – let's get his phallic symbol for him, Tink.  Fors strides forth, caution in his eyes and his hands near several of his pockets.

The passage is plain and somewhat uneventful.  After a few minutes the sounds of the roaring battle behind them fades to nothing.  The tunnel starts to get smaller as they walk, eventually requiring that they crawl through it on their bellies before getting almost impossibly small.  All sounds, including their heartbeats seems to fade to silence as they make one last push towards a light.  The floor gives way underneath them as they crawl forward dumping them along a steep slope towards a gigantic cavern filled with water.  Without a single sound they splash into the shallower part of the water.  Ahead of them lies an ornate and powerful looking spear.  However they must cross the dark waters to reach it.  Dark shapes writhe under the water's surface and more then once large shark heads poke out from the water, watching them.

And I'll form the head!

Caught flat-footed, Tink comes up gasping for air.

GAH!

That's got to be it!  So- what, do we just go?  With the sharks?

Deciding that discretion is the better part of valor, Tink experimentally tosses a penny toward some of the dark shapes, just to see how they'd react.

Well, that leaves out swimming across at any rate.  I've a few tricks up my sleeve that might work, but I get the sense that we're both being tested here so mine might not be as effective as anything you cook up.

(Sorry Adamas I almost forgot about you!)

The creature shakes off the flechette rounds with minimal injury.  It seems oddly resistant beyond explanation of the thick scales to all the gun fire.  With a quick spin it keeps it's head pointed at Adamas and strikes out at the brothers with it's tail.  The gray light shatters and the brothers take a nasty impact, flying several feet through the air.  Neither brother moves much after they've landed.  The shriek however throws it off somewhat, narrowly missing Cutter with a spearing tail thrust.  Despite the beating it's taken so far the creature shows very minor physical damage.

And I'll form the head!
