*laugh* They're all three very good ideas, ones we could definitely find a space for.  I'm prejudiced towards Shifters, mind you, and if you're looking for ideas re: #1, you can always check out the Nuwisha from World of Darkness. (I'm playing an adaptation of a Corax)  That said, the other two are plain and simply put, bad*ss ideas.

So that's two votes from #1 so far. I've thought over each idea more throughly and I figured I should put out where the strengths, and admittedly weaknesses, of each one.

#1: I better say right now that #1 is based more on the representation of Skinwalkers in the Mercedes Thompson series, with some inspiration from that wolf from Shadow Hearts: Covenant when it comes to fighting style and some powers. So he's going to have nowhere near the raw power of a WOD were, I should know W:TA was the first game I ever ran. His specific strength lies in his experience. He's done this for a while and knows whats what. He also has some contacts, he knows some rituals, and he fights well but again his main advantage is his experience.

#2: #2 has the exact opposite probelm as #1, lots of power but no experience. #2 is a skilled magician but he's only been actually fighting the Mythos for about a year or so, he does however have a good amount of experience fighting remnants of the Illuminati so he has an advantage there. His raw magical power is also curtailed by the fact that he can barely control it. Chaos magic is potent but it can slide out of control very easily.

#3: He doesn't have the power of #2 or the exact amount of experience of #1, although he has done this long enough to not flinch at the sight of a Deep One, but he has one great advantage, Delta Green. As a full fleged agent he has access to the a good amount of resources, not as much as Andy although there's are items of a questionable nature he'll probably have easier access to, and he can access Delta green's records and knowledge his power. He has one major disadvantage however, Delta Green. I have a lot of ideas about how his relationship with Delta Green can be just as big a pain in his ass, and by extension your asses, as an advantage. Oh, and always remember one thing; Delta Green agents are not nice people

Take pride in what in what you have done. But know that in the end you shall be alone and in darkness.

Hrm… well, as long as it's just a retasking of the word "skinwalker" and not WoD's version I don't think there should be any issue between #1 and Fors, fwiw.  And yeah, true-blue WoD Garou are just too powerful for this campaign; we tend to focus more on storytelling than firepower and claws.  #2 sounds like he'd be the magical equivalent of a certain member I could name (*grin*), and #3 sounds akin to Tain's old background.  I still say they're all good here IMO, provided you expect them to start at newbie levels like the rest of us due to the reboot.

I like #1, but then I/Adamas are somewhat used to stories of such creatures. That and my plans for him could make #2 a possible rival, but I admit that I don't really plan out how my charecters develop.

I don't know what you could be talking about there, Fors :P   Not one bit!

Personally, I kind of like #3, and then #2.  Honestly, though, they'd all fit here.

# 3 then # 2

I like the possibilities behind Delta Green, and how they would react to another interfering group with it's own motives.

I like the second one because wizards rule. Zap zap!

I'm familiar with Briggs work. and the power level on  Mercy is close to where were were at though Zee's knife may be a bit high.

Character two sounds like a few we've introduced over the years, but as of last setting, building magic characters was tricky. You should really read Starkweather (the comic series) to see how magic works in this realm. I'm sure someone can post a link for where to buy it.

the problem with 3 is that in a social game, and anti-social characters don't do as well in social games.

If I had to pick I'd go 3, just because we're starting to loose the snowflake affect of non-mortals among the snowstorm.

It's time for another good idea, bad idea:
Good Idea – Getting your Insider character into the comic
Bad Idea – Joining the EOD to do so.

Gratz to Jacobus for the New Avatar!

Well it is possible that some charecters may be like Chrissy, with an unusual bloodline and not realize it yet.

Okay, that's two for #1, one for #2( I counted adamas' vote towards that), and three for #3. Well, that decides that. I'm off to alter my profile and post in the warm-up thread.

I like number 3 myself as well.  We are running a little 'shifter heavy (part of why I made EM-E on the old boards)  I think that the most important thing that we need to keep in mind for this reboot is to keep things low key.  I know from some of my own missions that we went off pace from what was expected of us.  (Dinner at lenny's anyone…) some things to keep in mind.  we're supposed to be the ones who are outnumbered, outgunned, and that WE are the ones who hide, not them.

Unfortunately all that most people have seen on the insiders is going in guns blazing riding the dune buggies.

I already tried my hand at 3, was kinda hard to balance but you might not suck as badly as I do ;) .  Was fun though never outright saying just where I stood in the organization though lol.

I've noticed a bit of emotive popping up in the fun thread.  While it may be changed for the official version the old posting system was just that, postings.  In a non-mission thread the usual way to post is just like if your character was posting to a forum him/herself.  In a mission thread you're free to post like a regular RPG and add in your actions.  Since that's been consistent between alpha and beta it's probably a good idea to get used to it.  But it is in a thread that's just goofing off till we get official word of what's up, so no worries either way.  Now that I think about it, it may be a good idea to run an example mission so people can see the difference between the two and maybe enjoy themselves.  If anyone feels up to running a lazy throwaway mission just start an unofficial mission thread or let us know in here.

Something important to keep in mind is what Fuzzbutt said.  Unlike usual RPG's where it's expected that you get crazy overpowered and Bitch Slap Mother Hydra, this is a rather low powered game.  It's expected that we are hardly a match for the EoD let alone anything more then a group of cultists.  It's a hard habit to break and deep down we all wanna be awesome which is exactly what the normal run of Bitch Slap'n play caters to.  It's a challenge, which makes it very interesting to me as you CAN fail and when you win it means more then simply bulldozing any opposition.  Things get stale and boring when you win every time imo.

And I'll form the head!

I'm kinda up in the air re: non-mission posts; the focus, imo, should be mostly revolving around good storytelling, so if it adds to your post to have your laptop's webcam on then that's great (IMO, anyway).  Driving in a truck as you go screaming down the highway, however, maybe you can leave out the visuals of dodging slow-moving motorists (etc), and just add in the sounds – anything your character might yell at BlueHair "25MPH" McGranny, screeching of your brakes as you avoid creaming a pedestrian, etc.  (we have a precedent of voice-to-text apps for cellphones that then post to here)  Or to sum up, here, writing a good story is king – french fries are nice, too, though. ;)

And 110% agreed on your latter point, Tain; folks, think back to pretty much every Lovecraft story – do his "heroes" tend to prevail against the unknown, or do they usually end up having their brains turned to tapioca and gently dribble out their ears?  To quote a fantastic movie about underdogs, "We're not your classic superheroes. We're not the favorites. We're the other guys."  There's no cavalry, no backup, we're all there is – and we're so outgunned and outmanned, we need every scrap of resources we can scrape together, and we need to use it strategically.  That's not to say we're destined to lose, as we can pull off minor victories, but our single greatest strength lies in staying below the enemy's radar until we can sucker-punch them – then run away as fast as our legs can take us, before they can turn us into a greasy smear on the pavement.

Just a headsup.  Various Insiders are getting gifts!  Strange, strange gifts.  It's part of a little something I'm working on that may or may not be awesome.  I'm starting with the more recent people so if you want in on the crazy gifts ya need to speak up in the thread or here to lemme know!  I'm sure I can work something out for just about any of you.  It'll be fun I promise!

Oh almost forgot.  No worries on the gifts, none of them will contain anything or in any way be hazardous to anyone.

And I'll form the head!
