Setbacks

I don’t have a colorful way of relaying this information, so let’s get it over with.

We are delaying the launch of Shadowgirls until after the new year.

We had high hopes of starting on November 2nd but our new Producer/Manager actually sat down and worked out our schedule for the entire year. And it became apparent very quickly that even with several weeks of pages finished, we would end up with D-Rey having less and less lead time until he was doing pages the night before in December. And that just isn’t an acceptable way to get a comic out.

After much talking and discussing and disappointment we reached the conclusion that instead of trying to rush the pages out and end up behind in a month and 1/2 we would delay the launch in order to put ourselves in a position to deliver the book on schedule. In addition to that, we have an entire website relaunch planned with a brand new members section, forum and chat room. So rather than fight the schedule, we are going to stack the odds in our favor and do a complete relaunch of Shadowgirls in 2010.

I know this will be disappointing to our readers but we have a lot of goals to reach next year, including not missing updates, and this gives us the best chance of doing that.

We will have periodic updates on progress and some treats here and there as we’re going, but for now we are off regular schedule. And believe me, you will know the day we are re-launching!

Thank you for sticking with us this long…and I hope to see you all there.

Getting A Piece Of Asp Finale

We have reached the end of this interlude…and also the unofficial end of Season One of Shadowgirls. Season Two begins on Monday, November 2nd. Please take this opportunity to tell all of your friends who don’t know about Shadowgirls and who might be interested to start reading now so that they are all fired up and ready when we relaunch the site in 2 weeks.

This is also the very last week to pre-order our figure before they go into production and start shipping out. Click the button above to place your order before its too late.

And in case you were worried, they found the kid who was in the runaway balloon. He was in the garage hiding. I’m glad the kid’s okay. I guess the lesson we’ve learned here is that if you yelled at your kid and he ran off, check the garage, attic and your house before you call in the military and close airports.

Let the countdown begin!

Getting A Piece Of Asp Part VIII

I don’t know how old I was when noticed how many Disney cartoons ended with what I would later call “The Spectreman” (Look it up) The Spectreman is what might be called the final stage of the boss fight. The main enemy of the show or movie or book or cartoon suddenly becomes very large. In many cases (Power Rangers, Eye of the World, The Belgariad) the good guy also enlarges to become the same size and they battle on the grand scale.

Disney however doesn’t do that. They require that the good guy overcomes these ever increasing and more dangerous odds. I could name them off but I’d rather you start ticking them off in your head and then go “Son of a bitch.”

I have two favorite Disney villains, (if you pin me down I will choose Maleficent. But that’s because she was first.) Years later however I would be introduced to Shan Yu of Mulan fame.

Now, this guy, was just evil. Someone put up a wall, it pissed him off and he decided to f#@%cking kill everything. Now that might be enough for some people, but here is what eventually put Shan Yu into the villain hall of awesome. After Mulan buries his army with an avalanche there is a scene where he PUNCHES his way out of the pile of snow. For those of you who live in tropical climates, let me inform you that a shovel full of snow is heavy. And this was like…many shovelfulls.

Shan Yu looks around, sees his decimated army and lets loose what can only be called a howl. After this howl, a small group of his men then erupt out of the snow as well in answer to their leader’s battle cry.

Okay, here is where it becomes awesome.

Those dudes were dead. (I don’t care what you saw. I know what I know.) Mulan dropped a mountain on his army and they died. And then Shan Yu…SCREAMED THEM BACK TO LIFE.  I don’t mean necromancy or some other kind of magic crap. He didn’t heal them or wish them back, or use the force or cry tears of love that resurrected them.  He reached down deep into his frozen nut sack and screamed some mongols back from the other side and then DEMANDED that they get up and go with him on a mission to murder the Emperor.

You know what…F#$% Maleficent…all she did was turn into a big ass dragon.

Enjoy the page, this might be my favorite one in the story. And while we’re at it, who’s YOUR favorite Disney villain and why!

Getting A Piece Of Asp Part VII

In honor of Columbus Day, we give you…

Giant, scary, snake-man. I’m sure there’s a connection that can be made there but I don’t see it.

Anyone think they can do a Kevin Bacon on Christopher Columbus? I don’t use the word a lot…but that’d be pretty epic.

I did Judy Garland once and I impressed myself.  (In the Kevin Bacon game. The other way would be impressive too I suppose.)

Stream of consciousness is a terrible thing.

Well I for one am SHOCKED! Shocked I tell you. Call it an object lesson folks. Picking up men in bars is never a good idea. Especially ones named after snakes.

I’ve always wondered about that Shakespeare movie thing. I think Lindsey might be onto something. It’d be just like that part in Airplane with the Jive subtitles!!

Someone call congress.

See? Pink bunny slippers.

D.Rod should be returning, so I believe he’ll be back on Monday, so you don’t have to put up with my sense of humor for a while.
