D.Rey here again, and welcome back! Ah, Charon… Such a horrible drunk dirty girl, but we love you anyway.
It’s been brought up a few times, so I figured I’d address it here. When it comes to canon stories here, there’s been some confusion for what we call canon. So for the record, these are the stories that are considered canon and the order they chronologically occurred:
- Cold Comfort (Takes place eight years ago.)
- Shared Destiny (Takes place during the early fall.)
- Epilogue
- Reflections
- Bitter Souls Don’t Sleep (That’s the Starkweather RPG crossover. Though it’s sort of quasi-canon. It’s like Star Trek V. It probably happened, but not exactly as shown. It’s hard to explain.)
- Getting a Piece of Asp.
Annnnd that brings us to the current storyline. The Doc Shadow stuff also happened, but we’re still sorting out the details on that. And the Fruit Pie story is another issue all together.
Thing to remember is that Shadowgirls occurs in that sort of comic book time, where it’s somewhat agelessly progressing. So it’s not like it’s still Fall of 2007 here in the story. Like how Spider-Man can still be in his late 20′s, despite running around in tights since 1961.
I know it’s a touch confusing, but from here on out, the stories will happen in reading order and there won’t be anymore jumping around. (Unless stated in the story itself.)
Come back Friday for pink bunny slippers.
D.Rey here.D.Rod’s off to Disney with his family so you got me for the rest of the week, It’s new story time! Now this is one I’ve been wanting to see done for some time now. The story was written by Egg Embry, who’s own webcomic Global Freezing (which had a recent write up at Newsarama) can be found HERE. We’ve known Egg for a while, and when he sent us this script, I pretty much laughed my ass off at several scenes in this story. (Particularly page four. You’ll see why when we get there.)
Now the art is drawn by my friend James Suhr. James is an animator out in the land of giant fake boobs and crazy actors who think they’re politically savvy because they read a book once. (Or California, for those with maps.) Me and James goes back many years, in fact to our early college days. I’ve been itching to get him to draw a story for us for a while now, and here we are. You can find James’ site HERE.
Between Egg and James, I think we’re all in for a fun little treat here. Enjoy.
(I know I said I’d go over the canonicity issue with everyone here today… But I’ll do that on Wednesday. It’ll give me something to talk about then.)
Thank the D-Rey for this ending.
It came out great.
Come back on Friday for a very special team up between us and one of our webcomic friends!!
So the correct answer, and only one person got it, was Three’s Company. (Yes, really.) For some reason, that show, never fails to entertain me. It’s never had a “very special” episode. It’s never tried to teach me anything useful. And I will never forgive them that Jack and Janet didn’t end up together at the end of the show. (Mmmm Joyce DeWitt…who actually owns a copy of the original Starkweather trade paperback thanks to me!
BUT it is always familiar and funny and I end up catching lots and lots of dirty jokes I didn’t get when I was younger.
Lots of good guesses though. I can watch the hell out of Blazing Saddles or History of the World, I’m a huge Serenity and Dr. Horrible fan, though I confess to not being the Gilmore Girls fan that D-Rey is.
Having a teenager is hard enough. Having one that tear crap apart with her shadow powers must be kind of unnerving.
Oh, and I fixed the Forums button thing. It’s up there. No to the right some. There you go.
See you on Monday!
So, had I thought of it, I would have asked for us to have a special 9-9-9 comic strip. But I didn’t. So we don’t. I assume the world didn’t end unless of course the universe is on Eastern Time. Which in the movies it always seem to be. I can only guess that stems from Hollywood’s complete conviction that all things revolve around NYC.
Did I ever tell you guys that I write with the Television on? Not always, sometimes its with headphones on. But maybe 1/2 the time the tv is on in the background. However, it needs to be playing something I’ve seen enough that I don’t have to pay direct attention to it. Right now Major League is on and that is one of those films.
“Are you tryin to say that Jesus Christ can’t hit a curveball?!”
Brilliant
You are welcome to take some stabs at others. In fact, I will send a free Summer Special Comic to the first 5 people to guess what TV show I can ALWAYS write to or will watch no matter what episode and no matter how many times I’ve seen it.
And there may be clues in the comic. (By comic I mean the series, not today’s page btw…:P)
Reflections continues…
For those in the states, Happy Labor day. D.Rod’s out of town at the moment doing a voice acting gig, but he’ll be back by Wednesday. So you get random musings by your artist in the meanwhile.
I’ve had a few people ask why the art in this story looks so… “off”. Well, here’s why folks: The art is old. Is that an excuse? Yeah, it kinda is. At the time I was still trying to get a grasp for the feel of the comic book. (For example, I didn’t know that the book was even going to be in color at the time.) As time went on, I learned how to work smarter and more efficiently. And I’m a little faster and a little more confident in my work. Sure, I still got a long ways to go still… But what artist doesn’t? (That’s not named Jim Lee or Alex Ross, I mean?)
Well, back to the art table for me. Season Two’s not going to draw itself…
She was bound to ask eventually. And on a Friday no less. That’s the problem with teenagers. They have no consideration.
This question brought to you by the letter D-Rey. I hadn’t considered Becka’s feelings regarding Misty in the Dreamlands. But it does fit with her character that now that Misty is comatose that Becka would look at herself first.
What do you guys think?
And while you’re thinking, take a minute to vote if you haven’t and check out our awesome Shadowchild figure sculpt from Patch Together!!
