Epilogue Part Six

I guess it’s official now. I put New York plates on the car yesterday. Legally you’re supposed to do it after like 30 days but trying to get a driver’s license or car title transferred in this state is ridiculous. (They score your paperwork!) Oh..I’m digressing.

Welcome back! And look we are re-introducing some more characters you might be wondering about.

Epilogue Part Five

I don’t think I mentioned how Wizard World Philly went, but it was great to meet some readers and hand out hundreds of books to potential new readers. (Several of them converted that weekend!) But I had no idea it would be so difficult to give comics to people. Apparently they think its a hustle. Like I’m going to hand them my book and make them buy a timeshare.

BUt! I persevered. And there are books out there and more to come! Hope to see you guys at the next one.

Epilogue Part Three

UPDATE: Hey folks. D.Rey here. Monday’s page will be a little late. I was out late for Father’s Day and we were in the sun all day, and I gotta be honest… I’m really tired right now. The page is drawn, but it still needs to be colored. (Barring something apocalyptic in nature.)

As mentioned on Friday, D.Rod’s in Philly this weekend, so I’m doing the updating for today. The epilogue continues with part three today.

Epilogue Part Two

Since the last post was so loooong, I’ll keep this one brief. D-Rey will be handling the post on Friday because I’ll be at Wizard World Philly and I hope to see some of you there. I think we’re in Artist Alley but you can find us by our brand new banner that looks just like the summer cover.

Keep ordering those prints or I will sell them all at the con! :D

And yeah, that’s who you think it is.

Epilogue Part One

I am sitting here after spending the day prepping for the first big convention of the season. There are thousands of Shadowgirls Convention Specials in my garage, prints on the way, new banners and over 200 pages of content. And while yesterday was our awesome artist’s birthday, there is another occasion on the horizon and that is Shadowgirls’s TWO YEAR anniversary. (Hence one of the reasons that Becka has a 2 on her shirt for the convention special image.)

We’ve been doing this for two years and I think we’ve gone a lot further and accomplished a lot more than we ever imagined. The thing about moving forward like this is the natural excitement that leads to wanting to branch out and expand, but I’ve seen that do terrible things to lots of great stories. Stories that started up great and then strayed away from their original intent and became something else entirely.

In looking at the possible roads we can take with Shadowgirls I am both excited and frightened by its potential. There are hundreds of things we would like to do with the series, the characters, the IP and there aren’t many of them that don’t seem like a great idea. They could all be pursued. They could all be accomplished. But Dave and I are only two men. (Formidable child-men indeed, but still only two). And things like that can get to be overwhelming even if we do hide it pretty well. :)

But then I remember the advice that I once received. And then I read it years later in a book that I have often recommended on here and give it to any writer who asks me for advice.

It’s about the Characters and the Story. It is always about the characters and the story. It is about Charon and Rebecca and the challenges they face. There may be side stories, RPG’s that never get finished, our extended goal to get our collected edition published and other distractions. But the reason this book exists at all is because of a single mother and her daughter.

And they are who I am going to be focusing on for the immediate future. I don’t have much in the way of “extra” time and I want to make sure they get as much attention as I can give. (And my doesn’t THAT sound familiar) By the end of this Epilogue you will see that we are more determined than ever to tell the best Shadowgirls stories possible. I like to think that’s why you are here and in the end we can’t have it without you. (*nudge nudge* Order our FIGURE and buy our PRINTS!! Seriously, it’s ten bucks for the print and it goes with everything!)

There. I think I’ve shared enough for today. Enjoy the next 3 weeks as we finally wrap up our epic first season and set up the surprises we’ve got ready for Season Two!! (And make sure you wish D-Rey a Happy Birthday!)

Cold Comfort Part Finale

Cold Comfort Part Finale

It’s kind of odd to be updating on a Sunday, but I promised it’d be up during the weekend and I meant it. You can probably consider this one Monday’s update as well, but just posted early. And this concludes the Cold Comfort story, written by DJ Moore. (Mondo Kane to those that have trouble remembering real names. :P ) I like how the whole story turned out, and I hope y’all did too. We’ll probably do another one of these contests in the future.

Now tht E3 is over with, D.Rod will be back on Wednesday, where we’ll get back onto a normal schedule again. A couple special trinkets will go up on Wednesday and Friday and next week Monday… The Season One finale epilogue, aptly entitled… “Epliogue”. (It’s ending will surprise you!)

By the way, go see Pixar’s ‘Up’. It’s quite awesome.

Cold Comfort Part Eight

D.Rey here with page eight. Like I mentioned before, we’re eschewing the schedule this week, so I can catch us up and get us back on track for the epilogue. So sometime this weekend, the final page of Cold Comfort will go up, though it may be on a Saturday.

Catch you later!

Cold Comfort Part Seven

Here’s the next page. Sorry about the delay… Again… But this time my dad had cataract surgery yesterday. They offered me the opportunity to watch the procedure on close circuit… And you know what?

I have a limit to my cringe resistance factor and it’s ocular surgery. To think at one time in my life, I thought about being an ophthalmologist. *shudder*

Anyway, a little announcement about the remainder of the pages of the Cold Comfort story. I don’t want to push back the schedule any farther than I already done, as we should have been into the Epilogue by now. So here’s what I’m going to do… I’m ignoring our schedule for the remainder of the week. The next page will already be late, but when it’s done I will put it up right away. Same for Friday’s. It’ll probably be late, but it’ll go up on the weekend if I gotta. So by Monday, Hell or high water, the story will be completed. I want to get us back on schedule here.

By the way… I totally love Phil’s mutton chops. I think he’ll still have them in present day!
