Dark Queen Rising Part Eight

Late. But worth it!!

Big hand to D-Rey for totally Iron Man’ing this page out. The downside is that he had to convert himself to pure thought and inscribe the page with the power of awesome to make the deadline. We can only hope that we’ll be able to gather it all back up and stuff it in his skin suit. But its kind of like aluminum foil. You CAN’T really re-roll it the same way….

In this one we touch on more of the Lovecraft Mythos and how it ties into our universe. I showed D-Rey the game rules section where we explain how our universe was shaped and even HE was surprised at what he discovered.

But yeah…back to ass kicking!! (Which by the way is the only scene direction I gave him for most of these panels. :)

Dark Queen Rising Part Seven

Round two has begun.

And not only have we have learned something new but I think she tried to punch her kidney out her front!

Thank you for your patience and hang on to your seats. It’s only going to get crazier out here!

UPDATE: D.Rey here. Friday’s page will be late. Yeeeeah… Again.  I had multiple essays and school stuff to do and it wasn’t all that fun. It’ll be up Friday, but just later in the day. Thanks for understanding.

Dark Queen Rising Part Six

D.Rey here again. D.Rod’s outta town so he asked me to do the updating tonight.

I don’t get to comment too often about the art in the pages. As some of you know, we have a short turn around time for these pages, so while you girls and guys are looking at one page, I’m usually working on the next. Sometimes I have to make compromised to what I initially planned to do and try out techniques on the fly that I have no idea if it’ll work or not. Fortunately, it has worked out more often than not. So that said… Today’s page is probably my favorite page I’ve done for this entire series thus far. It was one of those pages that everything just clicked with me and I’m pretty proud of it.

Join us back here Monday for violence.

:)

UPDATE: Hey folks. D.Rey again. We’ll be missing Monday’s page. My apologizes, I sorry. Some personal stuff came up and I fell behind on the art. It’ll be up Wednesday, I promise. Once again, sorry.

Dark Queen Rising Part Five

It was either write it this way, or have her squint her eyes and snarl and say “NEWMAN!”  On a side note, its gratifying that so many people were sad to see the passing of the Deep One Prime and it was also nice that we were able to keep his identity semi secret for this long. (Given the ah…intensity of some of our reader’s researching.) But yes, the 80 years remark has to do with the government “invasion” of Innsmouth that was set in motion by investigator Robert Olmstead.

The rise continues and builds to an awesome Friday! See you then. :)

Dark Queen Rising Part Four

D.Rey here. I’m doing the honors of posting tonight’s page. Our new layout requires me to relearn how to do this, so bear with me.

So we’re back! I hope you all had a good Valentine’s Day… Or what we singlers like to call it, “Happy Dead Gangsters Day”. (A little Al Capone humor there for ya!) I celebrated the day by seeing Taken with my dad. What an awesome movie. They really need to make more films like this.

And with this page, we bid farewell to Deep One Prime. Or Robert Olmstead as we just found out. (No, not the novelist!) So what happens next?

Find out Wednesday. Same Shadowtime! Same Shadowstation! :)

Dark Queen Rising Part Three

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!  This is not the end of this sequence but its a hell of a place to leave you! (I know…) I hope you’re enjoying the new stuff on the site and the sneak peeks into the versions of the Shadowgirl we chose not to use. (See we put thought into this stuff!) See you on Monday for the continuation of this sequence! I don’t think Chrissy was quite expecting…this either.

Dark Queen Rising Part Two

Today we have several things going on so bear with me!

1. We have this AWESOME PAGE! Holy crap. When D-Rey sent this image I was completely floored. It’s amazing!

2. I want to congratulate our very Inara on her pending mini-Insider! (Or is it a Shadowbaby?) I think it’s so awesome that you chose to share that with us here. All the best wishes to you and your family from Shadowgirls!!

3. Also congratulate the official winner of our first ever Tales From Innsmouth David Moore (Our Mr. Mondo Kane himself) and his entry Cold Comfort!  His story of Chrissy’s mother won best of votes from readers and the SG team alike. The forum will be unlocked tomorrow for everyone to comment on the stories. But please wish our winning writer the best. Thank you to everyone who entered and we’ll do it again this year. :)

4. Friday. Yeah…we don’t stop. Make sure you’re back to see what happens next. (And click the vote to see another unused Shadowchild design. This one was a real contender for awhile!)

Dark Queen Rising Part One

As you may have noticed, we’ve undergone a site redesign. It is still in progress (I promise the top nav buttons will be working soon) But it is a definite upgrade and its more pre-work towards Season 2. We have decided that now is the perfect time to do it since we are starting off what might be the biggest arc of Shadowgirls ever!!

In celebration of that we are offering for vote incentive a peek at some of the unused designs for the Shadowchild. Just hit the vote to see what could have been!

Blood In Blood Out Finale

This is a big update today so I hope your eyes don’t glaze over.

FIRST- The polls are closed on the writing contest. We will be posting the official winner in the next week! Thanks to everyone who participated (entrants and voters!)

SECOND- The votes have turned over so lets give TWC a big kick in da pants. If you VOTE you can check out some preview artwork from the Mythmakers RPG. This pic is of the Treasure Hunter and is by Nik Ronis with colors by Dave Reynolds.

THIRD- We have a Facebook page! I’m not sure why yet, but people recommend it! So if you’re a facebooker click HERE and join. I have some hazy plans for it but any suggestions are welcome! Seriously, I suck at this social networking sites thing.

FOURTH- (and last really) As far as this page goes, you are witnessing is collaboration at its finest. The original script called for a different sequence of events. In the original script, the chair was wood and Sawyer staked this dude. But then D-Rey was like…”can I make the chair metal?”

A little back and a little forth and the scene that has played out the past couple days came to being. I’m not sure which of suggested Sawyer strangling the assassin with his OWN IV CORDS. But when it came up we knew we had found a better scene than the one we had described and we didn’t change a single word of dialogue.

And Sawyer’s…eye thing will be explained in this week, but it has been planned from very early on. And we knew we were going to unveil it during the last issue. What was never discussed as a revelation but I hope became obvious in this scene is that Lindsey Jun Yeoh…has NO powers. (And since awesome cannot be quantified she doesn’t.)

I don’t actually come out and SAY many things in this comic, I prefer to let people have their discussions debate back and forth. But just this once I will say clearly and without an ounce of hesitation.

Lindsey has no powers. I repeat. None. (Dormant or otherwise) Sorry to those of you holding out hope. :)

See you on Wednesday!
