Hey guys and gals, D.Rey here. I just wanted to let you all now that the next page here is going to be late. It’s my fault. Basically I fell behind with some job and college preparations. I mean the last time I ever dealt with whole enrollment into a new school thing… The Internet didn’t even exist yet! So it was a new experience to say the least.
I’ll be working late on it, so the new page will be up when I get it done.

Since we ended one sequence on Wenedsday we have to kick one off on Friday right? And if you’ve been reading this long then I’m sure you weren’t expecting us to leap right into the Hydra stuff. There are few threads that need to be knit together here and it’s been a little while since we’ve been with Lin-Lin in the present so don’t feel bad if you have to flip back to figure out where she is.
And I KNOW you’ve missed friendly Detective man here…I JUST KNOW IT!

I hope you had enjoyed this visit with our three leading ladies as much as we have. D-Rey has completely outdone himself with this sequence and I think by the response that our readers are starting to see the pieces come together. There’s been some great theories put forward and you’ll have to wait and see how it plays out. So please stay tuned!

So first, for anyone who doesn’t read the comments section, let me thank you all again for your remarks, observations and comments on Friday’s page. That page was important to me for the story as well as personally and it’s really incredible when it can generate a response from our audience that way.
I realize that we’ve spent a nice chunk of time on this sequence but as I mentioned earlier I believe it to be very important to the overall story. One of the dangers with the style of storytelling we’ve chosen is knitting everything back together properly once you let your children run amok and make new friends and try to pull them into the story.
But this story, even with all its supernaturalness, has always been about the relationship between the three ladies pictured here. And by the time we get to the end of this sequence you will know exactly why this HAD to happen!

The end of a very emotional week on Shadowgirls and we learn something about Charon that maybe we kind of knew but were never sure about. And we see why for one of several reasons…that this book doesn’t work without Charon. Sure we can have big chunks of Becka and Lindsey but Charon is critical to this story in so many ways. And somehow standing between the Chosen One and an otherworldly creature she still manages to not be diminished.
Is it a weekend cliffhanger? I’m not sure. But I really really love the way she ends this page!

So here’s some trivia on today’s page.
The original script had a different method of Charon seperating these two. The Shadowchild was more a spiritual looking form being torn out of the body. D-Rey was having some difficulty visualizing and putting to paper what I described and he told me he tried something different.
And when I saw it I was like… F#$K Yes! That is WAY cooler than what I wrote down. It’s one of the many reasons that we work so well together. He doesn’t just take what I write down on the paper (paper…HAH!) and then regurgitate it into drawings, he reads it and then he interprets it into art. Into the pages that you see.
And this page, just these few panels here we tell so much about what is happening in this story without having to read a single word. And now you know MORE STUFF!!
Or at least I think you know more stuff…anyone think they’re wiser for it?
